Indoor cycling is an activity that can be done from the comfort of your own home. Spin cycling and cycling are the same activity, the only difference is that spin cycling is lead by an instructor. With indoor cycling, all you need is a bike and a room to put it in. Once that is taken care of, you are ready to begin.

When you do indoor cycling at your local gym in a class, this is referred to as spin cycling. If you have never done cycling before, then starting off with spin cycling might be a good idea so you can be a part of a group. All you have to do is follow the the orders given by the instructor. Or, instead of attending the spin cycling class, you could ride a cycling bike on your own.

When It Started

Indoor cycling originated after the invention of stationary bikes back in the 60′s, and has since become a very popular activity. People were looking for a way to stay fit and avoid having to drive to and from the gym everyday. The answer was to invest money in a stationary bike so homeowners could use it anytime and as long as they wanted. Riding a bike just for a few weeks can allow a person to lose a lot of fat and weight. Not much has changed as cycling is one of the best ways to get fit today.

Nowadays, people undertake the activity of cycling indoors to lose weight, to be able to stay home, avoid paying membership fees, and avoid making the trip to the gym each day. In essence, you have a choice between cycling from home or doing it at the gym, either in a spin cycling class lead by an instructor or by yourself.
