What are the best bicycle accessories: panniers, cycle computers, headlights, etc?

Question by Fancy: What are the best bicycle accessories: panniers, cycle computers, headlights, etc?
I am new to bicycling and am looking to buy quality merchandise that won’t break the budget. What are you fave picks and what do you think are must haves to get me off to a good start? Some accessories I would like info about would be as listed below and any new ideas would be great too. Thanks!

-panniers
-headlight / taillight (under $ 40)
-cycle computer (under $ 40)
-water bottles / packs

Btw, I am also looking to take a 5 day trip that will involve camping and packing light. I have another question about that posted.

Please be specific on name brands if you could.

Answer by Ben T
For panniers, Ortlieb Back Roller Plus. A little pricey (but price is for box of 2) but much better waterproofing than most and accessories are cheap. The attachment that converts your pannier to a backpack is astonishingly light but makes all the difference to your comfort if you’re going to walk around for long with your pannier.

When I startet cycling last year I just wanted to keep myself fit. So I bought a bike an just started cycling.

There are lots of hills where I live and at first this kind of sport was too hard for me, you know I was a bit overweight. So what I did, I started to do some research on professional cycling. I started buying magazines on that topic and really got some kind of professional.

Then, after doing some research I found a free ebook called “Basicsof Cycling Training”. At first I was not that much impressed, because I knew all that stuff from various magazines already, but eventually I purchased the the Book 101 Cycling Workouts. And I must admit I am still happy with that. It does not only show you, how you properly organize your cycling training, but also gives you some ideas how to change your eating habits and integrate simple strength workouts for your legs and the entire body in your everydays life. By now I got really amitous in riding my cycle regularly and work out at least for times a week. In summer I often attend local cycling events with my mountainbike and I really got successful thanks to that workouts.

Cyclung just is a nice sport, which does not ruin your angles, which I had problems with everytime I was jogging. So I you want to keep yourself fit I would recommend everyone to start cycling. It is really not that expensive and most bikes are very robust and durable. Nevertheless it is a nice sport to get do know other people on varios events. I hope I could inspire you to start with this wonderful sport.

I’m looking for a site showing pics of cycle accessories on bikes owned by riders (not bike models)?

Question by Mike: I’m looking for a site showing pics of cycle accessories on bikes owned by riders (not bike models)?
The pics of the accessory are not bike “models” but are bikes owned by riders who bought and installed that particular accessory. It also gave a list of all upgrades put on the bike. Anyone know which site I’m speaking of?
