Question by azn_ryan: what are some good bike accessories I can use for my new mountain bike?
okay I will by buying myself a new bike tomorrow and I was wondering what are some well needed accessories. Iam 14 and I will be using it for biking around town/neighborhood , and also for biking on beach and bike trails. I already have a helmet so i will not be needing that. Thanks.

    For starters:
    A decent bike lock
Front & rear LED Bike lights – just in case you do some night rides
Some bike repair gear – often fits into a little saddle bag (spare tube, tyre levers, patch kit & a multi-tool set)
    A bike pump.
    A water bottle & holder

Some other things to get later on:
    A rear rack
Bar-ends – give you the option of additional hand positions (also good for hanging a shoping bag home from the local shops)
Some sort of foot attachment – like toe-clips or cleats
A bike computer – tracks your average speed, distance etc.
    Bike gloves & sunglasses
Fenders – handy when riding in the rain
And the list goes on and on

everyone has posted great answers. So I agree with all of them. Most important I would say tire patch repair kit. Nothing worse than getting stranded. Camelbaks are awesome!! I never knew how much I needed one until I got one. Jensonusa has the basic on without a cargo area, for $20. basic allen wrenches are easy to carry too to tighten up any lost screws.
